Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Onyx finish used in this Rosh Hashana collection?

Onyx refers to a deep black, polished finish that gives the honey dish, tray, and cards a sleek, modern look distinct from the lighter glass and gold tones common in most Rosh Hashanah tableware. It reads as bold and contemporary rather than traditional gold-and-white. The dark tone makes it a striking centerpiece on a light tablecloth.

What pieces are included in the Onyx Collection?

The line includes an Onyx Honey Dish, an Onyx Simanim Tray that comes with cards included, and a standalone Onyx Simanim Card. Buying the tray with cards is the simplest way to get a coordinated Onyx table setting in one purchase. Additional cards can be added separately if needed.

Does the Onyx Simanim Tray come with blessing cards included?

Yes — the Onyx Simanim Tray With Cards is sold as a set, pairing the tray with the printed Yehi Ratzon blessings so the two pieces match visually and arrive ready to use together. This saves sourcing a separate card set in a matching finish. It's the most complete single purchase in the Onyx line.

Is onyx-finish Judaica heavy or fragile?

Onyx-finish pieces are typically glass, Lucite, or resin with a black coating rather than genuine stone, so they're no heavier than standard glass Judaica and should be handled with the same care as any glass tableware. Avoid sudden temperature changes, which can stress glass finishes. Hand-washing helps preserve the polished black surface longest.

What table colors pair well with the Onyx Collection's black finish?

Onyx pairs naturally with gold accents, white linens, and deep jewel tones like burgundy or emerald, since the black finish acts as a strong contrast color rather than needing to match. It also works well in a more modern, minimalist tablescape built around fewer, bolder colors. Avoid pairing with other very dark finishes, which can make the table feel heavy rather than dramatic.

How do I care for onyx-finish honey dishes and trays?

Wipe onyx pieces with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth rather than abrasive sponges, which can dull the glossy black finish over time. Hand-wash rather than using the dishwasher to protect the coating. Store away from other glass pieces that could scratch the surface during the months it's packed away.
