What do the words of Shema mean?
The Shema declares our belief that Hashem is our G-d and that He is One, and Baruch Shem praises the glory of His kingdom forever.
What does Hamalach Hagoel mean?
Hamalach Hagoel is the blessing Yaakov Avinu gave to his grandchildren, Ephraim and Menashe. It asks Hashem to bless and protect the children, just as He protected Yaakov, and to help them grow and flourish. Many parents recite it with their children at bedtime, after saying Shema.
